About Rob

Rob Salkowitz is an author, speaker and consultant focused on the global Millennial generation as they make their impact on the world. His latest book, Young World Rising, looks at the ways that young people in emerging economies are using new technology to start new businesses and solve longstanding social and economic problems.

His first book Generation Blend: Managing Across the Technology Age Gap (2008) helps organizations navigate the differences between the pre- and post-digital generations at work. Listening to the Future: Why It's Everybody's Business (2009), co-authored with Daniel W. Rasmus, Microsoft's Director of Business Insights, provides strategic guidance for businesses on the future of information technology in an uncertain world.

Young World Rising extends this vision by examining the impact of the Net Generation on a global scale as they create new organizations that reflect their networked and collaborative workstyle and their hunger for social change

Rob is a founding partner of MediaPlant, LLC, a Seattle-based digital communications firm, where he serves as Director of Strategy and Content Development. Throughout the 1990s, he helped to launch seven new businesses ranging from online training to travel information to online resources for potential immigrants, and worked on projects for many of the leading marketing and communication agencies in the Northwest.

Rob serves on the board of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), a New York City-based non-profit dedicated to providing technology training to older adults looking to participate in their communities or re-enter the workforce.

Rob was born and raised in Philadelphia and earned a BA in International Relations from Columbia University. He and his wife Eunice Verstegen live in Seattle, Washington.
